What's happening
Upcoming traffic changes – Cedric Street closed from 7pm, Sunday 24 May 2026
We are progressing the next stage of construction works to upgrade the Cedric Street intersection and will be completing drainage, pavement and shared path construction, asphalting works, and signalised intersection tie-in works.
To safely complete these works the following traffic impacts will be in place until mid-2026:
- Cedric Street temporarily closed in both directions between Stephenson Avenue and Ellen Stirling Boulevard for approximately four weeks.
- The right turn movement from Flax Way to Ellen Stirling Boulevard will be temporarily restricted to keep traffic moving through the detour routes while Cedric Street is closed.
- The Cedric Street northbound on ramp remains closed until mid-2026. Access to Mitchell Freeway northbound continues to be via the Stephenson Avenue northbound on-ramp or Karrinyup Road northbound on-ramp.

Buses and pedestrians will maintain access along Cedric Street to Stirling Station and associated car parks. There may be minor changes to route timings or stop locations – for more information on public transport disruptions, visit the Transperth website.
Once Cedric Street is closed, we will be working 24/7 to minimise the timeframe the road is closed, and therefore disruption to traffic. We thank the local community for their understanding and patience while these essential works are being completed.
Road users are encouraged to follow signage in the area that will be in place. Please plan ahead and allow additional travel time to your journey, especially during peak periods. Expect minor delays during the adjustment period.
Missing Mitchell Freeway Principal Shared Path link opens
The new Mitchell Freeway Principal Shared Path connection between Civic Place and Telford Crescent is now opened.
The 1.4 km new four-metre-wide-path now forms part of the broader PSP network, improving safety, journey times and connections for people walking, riding and commuting in the area.
The path also features a new pedestrian and cyclist underpass with bespoke artwork under Stephenson Avenue.
Local Western Australia artists David Ledger & Joanne Clark were inspired by Stirling’s market garden heritage and drew upon their personal connection to the area to develop A Patchwork of Stories.
Take a moment to enjoy the artwork as you pass through the new PSP connection.
Some finishing works continue on local shared path connections which will continue to open up in stages.
