What's happening

Major construction activities ramp on the Reid Highway Interchanges project as new work areas open.

Site activity – Altone Road intersection

Roundabout preparation works

Works will continue throughout April, including intermittent nightworks, to prepare for the temporary roundabout at the Reid Highway and Altone Road intersection. Activities include asphalting and installation of kerbing, barriers and signage.

Intermittent after hours works will be required, with works carried out between Sunday and Thursday, 7pm to 7am. Partial lane closures and reduced speeds (40km/h) will be in place on Reid Highway to allow crews to work safely.

The roundabout will become operational in early May 2026.

Temporary closure - Altone Road

To safely implement the roundabout, Altone Road between Bennett Springs Drive and Amazon Drive will be closed from 7pm Friday 1 May to 5am Monday 4 May 2026.

Reid Highway will remain open throughout the weekend works, with one lane operating in each direction. Detours will also be in place via Drumpellier Drive and Daviot Road.

For more information, check out Travel map.

Principal Shared Path (PSP) and local path detours

From late February 2026, the temporary footpath on Altone Road between Tattler Way and Thorburn Avenue will be closed to allow for works on Altone Road.

The following Principal Shared Path (PSP) and local path closures were implemented in December 2025:

  • Reid Highway PSP - west of Altone Road to Arthur Street Bridge
  • Drumpellier Drive PSP - south of Marshall Road
  • Grandis Road underpass - connecting Grandis Road and Reid Highway PSP

These closures will remain in place until approximately July 2027, with updates on timing provided throughout the project.

These closures are necessary to ensure the safety of path users while major bridge and ramp works take place.

 Detour routes

During this time, pedestrians and cyclists will be detoured via the local path and road network, as shown on the map below.
