Special Purpose Vehicle
A 'Special Purpose Vehicle' (SPV) is defined in the Road Traffic (Vehicle) Regulations 2014 as a vehicle, other than a tow truck or an agricultural vehicle, built for the purpose other than carrying a load, except for water in the case of concrete pumps and fire trucks.
Check-weighs are no longer required when applying for a SPV licence or permit unless requested by Main Roads or the Department of Transport.

- Restricted Access Vehicle Registration Form
