Steps for Accreditation

The below steps outline how to become accredited under the WA Heavy evhicle Accreidtation Scheme. You wil also find documents, FAQs, and templates to help you set up a management system. Plus, you will learn how to find a WAHVA Certified Auditor, fill out and send in your Accreditation Audit Report, and leave the WAHVA Scheme.
Step 1: Put a system in place
Operators must have systems in place to manage fatigue, maintenance and dimension and loading.

Step 2: Complete a certified audit
To verify the systems you have in place are compliant, they must be audited by a certified WA Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (WAHVA) auditor.
We are the certifying body responsible for managing and maintaining a database of certified Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Auditors. The Finding a Certified WAHVA Auditor guide is provided to assist you in navigating our website.
For a 12 month period, starting 1 July 2023, Remote Audits can also be conducted in accordance with the WAHVA Remote Audit Policy and Procedure.
Step 3: Submit
Once you've completed a Audit Report Template please submit to Main Roads with the:
- $225/three years fee; and
- a completed Restricted Access Vehicle Operator Registration Form
Step 4: Retire accreditation
If you wish to retire from Accreditation, please complete the Notification of retirement from WAHVA form.
Please be aware that retiring from Western Australian Heavy Vehicle Accreditation will result in the cancellation of any permits attached to the accreditation, including the permits of any sub-contractor also approved to operate under this accreditation.
