What's happening

The Great Eastern Highway – Kooyong Road Intersection Upgrade project is part of the Main Roads Congestion, Pinch Point Program (approximately $3.4million) and includes:

  • The addition of a third and dedicated right-turn lane from Kooyong Road into Great Eastern Highway.
  • Lengthen the right-turn pocket on east approach of Kooyong Rd by 20m to prevent/minimise spillage.
  • Relocation of the utilities (Western Power, Telstra, ATCO gas, etc) including streetlights and traffic signals.
  • Removal of U-turn facilities on the Westbound movement of Great Eastern Highway.
  • Upgraded drainage, lighting, lane configuration and resurfacing works.
  • Upgraded pedestrian movements including a staggered crossing in the median strip on Great Eastern Highway.
