What's happening

Construction on the final section of Stage Two is set to get underway in December.

The first section of Stage Two, 3.3 km between Hutton Road and just north of Ludlow River, was completed in April 2022.

Earthwork to prepare the remaining section of Stage 2 for major construction has been progressing well with more than 95,000 cubic metres of sand already placed for the road embankment.

Construction of three new bridges along the Highway is also well underway. Work on the two-span bridges - one measuring 38 metres over the Ludlow River and the other 32 metres over the Abba River – and the third, 20 metre, single-span bridge, over the Sabina River is underway.

The project is currently scheduled for completion in late 2024.
Scope

Stage One: Construction of a 5 km second carriageway from just south of Spurr Street to Hutton Road; including reconstruction of part of the existing carriageway.

Stage Two: Construction of a second carriageway over a 12 km section between Hutton Road and Busselton; including construction of three bridges over the Abba, Ludlow and Sabina River. The works also include reconstruction of parts of the existing carriageway and construction of a dual lane roundabout at the intersection of Bussell Highway and Sues Road.
