The Perth Entertainment and Sporting Precinct will create a vibrant, multi-purpose destination that enhances the Park’s existing activities, delivers new amenities for visitors and nearby residents, and strengthens connections between Optus Stadium, Crown Perth and Perth city.
To be designed for everyday users, while elevating Western Australia’s standing as a premier place for sport and entertainment, it will feature new infrastructure, improved audience experiences, and support both community participation and major events by delivering:
- A new outdoor auditorium with 15,000-20,000 capacity, complementing Burswood Park, Optus Stadium and Crown Perth.
- A multi-use track, including for use by FIA-approved Supercars, cycling criterium, and community sport.
- A multi-purpose building, including event and function facilities and meeting spaces.
- Better transport and connectivity with Optus Stadium, particularly for people with disability.
An important design consideration is responding to Burswood Park’s 20-year Masterplan vision, relevant state planning policies, and upholding the Park’s garden amenity.
The Cook Labor Government is committed to creating a new entertainment and sporting precinct at Burswood Park, adjacent to Optus Stadium, and has allocated $217.5 million to the project.
A key election commitment; it will be a multi-purpose destination for diverse users and visitors, deliver improved connectivity and access, and diversify the economy by attracting and hosting major events.
Community and stakeholder engagement is now underway and a preliminary concept direction will be available for further input in June 2025.
On-ground investigations, including soil and ground water testing, have begun– these are common activities for all major projects, and will also inform the precinct design and delivery approach.
