Planning for long-term road requirements between Shark Lake Road and Esperance Port

Esperance Planning Study hero image

What's planned

We are undertaking a planning study to determine the future road requirements between Shark Lake Road and Esperance Port.

This study is focusing on Coolgardie-Esperance Highway (known locally as Harbour Road) and South Coast Highway, as well as the intersections of these roads with each other and local roads.

Our objective is to develop an ultimate planning concept for Coolgardie-Esperance Highway and an access strategy only for South Coast Highway, considering previous planning work including the Barney Hill Realignment.

This planning work will allow us to identify an ultimate road reserve, which provides for future intersection and shared path improvements, and protect the required land.

No funding has been allocated for construction work or land acquisition, and future road upgrades are likely to be undertaken as a staged approach.

What’s happening

We will be at the upcoming Esperance Show (October 17 and 18).

Come and pay us a visit at the Main Roads booth and learn more about the planning study.  We will be there daily from 9am.
