Dedicated incident response vehicles

We have incident response vehicles on standby 24/7 on our smart freeways, which means they can respond within minutes.

Our response vehicles provide a safe buffer zone behind any breakdowns or accidents on Perth’s freeways. They park behind breakdowns and allow tow-trucks and other response vehicles to safely remove stranded vehicles.

The response vehicles can either block off a lane or, if needed, help push a broken-down vehicle to a nearby emergency lane or stopping bay.

How will the incident response team reach me if traffic is backed up?

Our operators in the Road Network Operations Centre (RNOC) will open and close lanes as needed to make way for response vehicles to attend breakdowns and incidents as quickly as possible.

How many incident response vehicles do you have?

Main Roads has a fleet of incident response vehicles across the Perth metropolitan network, which can be dispatched when and if required.

Acknowledgement of country
