This week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how everyone can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. The dates are the same each year - 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey — the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.
This year’s theme encouraged everyone to be a voice for reconciliation in tangible ways in their everyday lives. With this theme in mind, the BORR project team organised several events during the week with the aim of inspiring conversations internally and sharing the project’s commitment to reconciliation with the local community.
Staff from the South West Gateway Alliance (SWGA) participated in the City of Bunbury’s Reconciliation Week Walk which was held on Friday 26 May. This event was an opportunity for the community to come together, share stories and walk as one.

The following week, several internal events were held within the SWGA. This included talks on the history and significance of National Reconciliation Week at all construction sites across the length of the project, with Aboriginal Elders and team members sharing their personal stories.
