For students considering a career in construction or those unsure about their future after school, the various school programs run by the BORR team have provided an educational and eye-opening glimpse into the world of road infrastructure construction.

Career Week with Newton Moore Senior High School

The local Bunbury-based Newton Moore Senior High School held their Year 10 Career Week recently and invited representatives from the BORR team to run two sessions for their students.

As part of the program, the students were introduced to some of the challenges of construction by having to complete a team-based balloon tower challenge! They were then given a presentation on BORR itself and the many different and varied potential careers available in construction, along with some tips and insights related to the employment pathways on a project like this one.

Thank you so much for attending the industry career’s day for our Year 10 students today,” said Tish Kneuker, VET Coordinator, Newton Moore Senior High School. “Your efforts will have an impact!

Worley Work Experience

Six work experience students from Worley, a global provider of professional services across energy, chemicals, and resources experts, attended a site visit on BORR as part of the completion of their program.

The students visited the site at the Boyanup-Picton Road overpass bridge, colloquially known as the Mega Bridge. There they heard from our Structures Supervisor and Site Engineer, gaining an insider’s understanding of how the bridges on BORR have been built and what it has been like working on this major project.

Billy on BORR

Billy is a Year 10 student from Bunbury’s Grace Christian School who recently completed a week of work experience with the BORR team.

Billy spent time with various departments on the project, including Environment, Plant Management, Site Engineering, Health & Safety and Surveying. This wide-ranging experience gave him a unique insight into the sheer diversity of career options available in the construction industry.
