And the awards go to… BORR!

The Bunbury Outer Ring Road (BORR) team is proud to have been presented with two Infrastructure Sustainability Council awards, elevating awareness and recognition of the project to a national level.

The Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) is an organisation dedicated to ensuring that infrastructure projects across Australia provide social, cultural, environmental, and economic benefits.

One of the many ways in which they do this is through recognising and awarding projects that display excellence in various outcomes. On 7 September, the 2023 ISC Annual Awards Gala night was held in Melbourne.

We’re pleased to announce that the BORR project won two separate awards on the night:

  • Excellence in Social Outcomes; and
  • Excellence in Economic Outcomes

The awards are well recognised in the industry and reflect the work and passion of the entire team. Winning these awards is acknowledgement of the unwavering commitment and dedication to advancing local industry capabilities (i.e., the economic outcomes) and the provision of employment opportunities for the previously unemployed or never employed (i.e., the social outcomes).

Economically, the awards highlighted the sustainable industry goals of the project, focusing on procurement and local business engagement, working in collaboration with local business, organisations and State Government agencies to create opportunities for lasting social and economic improvements within the South West.

From a social outcomes perspective, the ready-for-work program, Yaka Dandjoo, has seen over 160 graduates, across 11 cohorts as of the time of the ISC Awards Gala, with many of those graduates directly employed or involved on BORR. This program is focusing on meaningful career pathways.

There’s no resting on our laurels though! With BORR just over 55% completed, there’s still plenty of exciting work to be done and opportunities to further contribute to achieving strong economic and social outcomes.
