South Western Highway and Vittoria Road Intersection Upgrade

• Constructing a new roundabout
• Create a lower speed environment on approach to the roundabout to remove speeding concerns
• Safer right turn from Vittoria Road to South Western Highway
• Dedicated left turning lane onto South Western Highway from Vittoria Road

The Preliminary Environmental Impact Assessment and Clearing Assessment Report determined that there was a low overall environmental impact. While some clearing was required (0.22 hectares of degraded native vegetation and 0.482 hectares of non-native vegetation), this was done in accordance with Main Roads’ State-wide Clearing Permit.

Our landscaping plan highlights the use of vegetation that is native to the area.

Work undertaken adjacent to the rehabilitated old Preston River watercourse was minimal, and the post-construction rehabilitation program will be designed to complement the surrounding wetland.

Aboriginal Heritage Surveys were completed in consultation with Traditional Owners.
