Northam Pithara Road Upgrades

The project includes:

• Replacement of Bridge 0753 over Mortlock River North with a new bridge.
• Decommissioning and removal of the existing Bridge 0753.
• Replacement of Bridge 0754 over Mallabine Creek with a new culvert.
• Realignment of Northam Pithara Road between Great Eastern Highway and Southern Brook Road.
• Construction of a new active rail level crossing with boom gates and signals.
• Improvements to road geometry, drainage and safety barriers. 

Bridge No. 0753 is approximately 90 years old and has reached the end of its design life, requiring frequent and costly maintenance. Both Bridge 0753 and Bridge 0754 have sub-standard geometry and load restrictions.  

Environmental and Heritage approvals for the project have been completed. Main Roads will manage construction activities to minimise impacts on the surrounding environment, waterways and local flora and fauna.
