What's happening

  • Stage 1 – Widening - Jurien Bay to Greenhead (complete)

Stage 1 widening between Jurien Bay and Greenhead is complete.

  • Stage 2 Widening and Passing Lanes - Leeman to Brand Highway

A contract for Stage Two was awarded to Central Earthmoving in January 2024. The majority of earthworks are close to completion, and drainage is almost finalised. Pavement construction has commenced with the first bitumen seal expected to go down in the coming months.

  • Stage 2 Detour – 17 April 2024 to late February 2025

The section of Indian Ocean Drive between Eneabba-Coolimba Road and Brand Highway will remain temporarily closed to through traffic until late February 2025. Access is available for local residents, businesses and emergency services and will be managed by Contractor Central Earthmoving. Should you require access to your property or business during the closure please click here to contact Centrals.

All road users must detour via Eneabba-Coolimba Road and Brand Highway which will add approximately 20 minutes to travel times. Please be patient, plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey.

  • Campsite Access

There is no access to the Freshwater Point or Knobby Head campsite during the closure. Access to Cliffhead remains however, it is only accessible from the northern end of Indian Ocean Drive.
