What's Happening

Service relocation works and upcoming roundabout construction works have required the permanent closure of the existing footpath on the northern side of Jeffrey Road.

A new footpath has been constructed to cater for pedestrians, and to ensure safe access through the area, signage directing pedestrians to the path along with traffic management is onsite.

Western Power has undertaken service relocation works along Jeffrey Road, including removal of nine existing power poles that will be relocated. To help maintain pedestrian safety, temporary lighting has been provided at the works compound entry and closer to Riverlea Estate, along Jeffrey Road.

Construction activities are expected to start in early November 2026, with works currently planned to continue into late 2027. Activities are being carefully planned and staged to minimise disruption to residents and road users, with work areas at:

• Jeffrey Road (north) at Forrest Highway
• Forrest Highway southbound
• Forrest Highway northbound
• Jeffrey Road (south).

Work hours are 6:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday. If night works are required during the project, we will seek approvals from the City of Bunbury, and residents will be notified in advance.

The Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) will manage impacts to residents and road users.

Resident access (including Riverlea Estate) during construction

Earlier engagement with Riverlea Estate residents informed our construction methodology. Access will be available at all times, and we will investigate further opportunities to minimise traffic impacts and improve access in and out of the area.

Single-lane closures are required at times on Jeffrey Road, and traffic controllers will guide road users through the area.

Outside construction hours, one lane on Jeffrey Road will remain operational to provide continued access for residents.

To minimise impacts on bus movements, we are liaising with Transperth.

Access to and from the construction site

Construction vehicles will access the worksite via Forrest Highway, Vittoria Road and Jeffrey Road.  Direct access from Forrest Highway into the site is needed for both construction activities and the movement of plant, equipment and materials.

This direct access from Forrest Highway will require lane restrictions between:

• 9 am and 4 pm Monday to Thursday.
• 9 am and 3 pm Friday.

These traffic management measures will ensure safe entry and exit for construction vehicles.
