Improving road user safety at key intersections on Forrest Highway in the Peel and South West regions

Wellesley Road to Forrest Highway southbound

What's happening

From 13 April 2026, we will start building the final acceleration lane from Preston Beach Road to Forrest Highway northbound, to help road users safely merge with traffic on Forrest Highway.

This work will take approximately three months to complete, and the general working hours will be 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Every effort will be made to minimise disruption to traffic; however, road users should expect speed reductions and intermittent lane closures on Forrest Highway as well as stop/slow traffic management on Preston Beach Road. Minor traffic management may also be required for the installation of streetlights at the nearby intersection of Forrest Highway and Johnston Road.

We've already completed three acceleration lanes - from Wellesley Road to Forrest Highway southbound, and from Binningup Road to Forrest Highway northbound, as well as intersection improvements at Myalup Beach Road.

Scope

Four new acceleration lanes at Wellesley Road, Binningup Road, Forestry Road and Preston Beach Road to improve safety for traffic merging onto Forrest Highway.

Intersection improvements at the junction of Forrest Highway and Myalup Beach Road, including new lighting, line-marking and signage.
