What's Happening

Development of the new Perth Transport Model has commenced.

A transport model is a tool for understanding and assessing the likely impacts of changes in the drivers of transport, such as transport supply, demographics or land use. In this context, transport modelling can assist with decision-making about the future development and management of urban transport and land use systems. Currently, there are two transport models used by the Transport Portfolio – STEM managed by Department of Transport, and ROM24 managed by Main Roads.

Data Collection

Between 2018 and 2022, Ipsos Social Research was contracted by Main Roads to conduct the Perth Area Travel Household Survey – a comprehensive data collection exercise to determine travel movements from a number of selected households that agreed to participate in the survey.

In 2021, Ipsos also conducted the Commercial Vehicles Survey which collected travel behaviour from commercial vehicle owners over a six-month period to help inform infrastructure planning and development into the future.
