What's happening
The State Government has provided Black Spot funding to improve safety at this intersection by removing the right-turn from Shallcross Street to Stock Road.
Due to the high traffic volumes on Stock Road, most of the construction work will be undertaken after hours and every effort will be made to minimise disruption. Road users should expect lane closures, speed reductions and traffic management. Any intersection closures requiring traffic detours will be advertised in advance. Some minor widening and clearing is also required within the southern verge to facilitate the realignment of the left-turn lane on Shallcross Street. Any healthy grass trees within the clearing area will be carefully relocated and the southern verge will be reseeded at the conclusion of the project.
Once the right-turn is removed, access to Stock Road northbound will remain available via Barrington Street or Beeliar Drive. Comprehensive traffic modelling has confirmed that the local road network has suitable capacity to manage the redistribution of traffic.
