What's happening
The State Government has provided Black Spot funding to improve safety at this intersection by permanently removing the right-turn from Shallcross Street to Stock Road.
This work will get underway in October 2026 and take up to three months to complete.
During construction, motorists will still be able to turn right or left from Stock Road into Shallcross Street. However, Shallcross Street will be closed to westbound traffic at Stock Road.
Any additional road closures will be advertised in advance.
The work will be undertaken as a mix of day and night works, to minimise construction noise. After hours works should be expected for the initial installation of traffic barriers and kerb demolition. Further after hours works will be scheduled for final resurfacing, kerbs, painting and line-marking.
Some minor widening and clearing is required within the southern verge to facilitate the realignment of the left-turn lane on Shallcross Street. Any healthy grass trees within the clearing area will be carefully relocated and the southern verge will be reseeded at the conclusion of the project.
