Garratt Road Bridge <em>Refurbishment</em>

What's Happening

The southbound Garratt Road bridge is closed to allow maintenance works to be completed safely and efficiently. Traffic is being detoured onto the adjacent northbound bridge under contraflow (one lane open in each direction) and pedestrian access is maintained at all times.

From May 2025, work will be undertaken within the navigational span impacting river traffic. Larger recreational vessels seeking to use the main navigational span should make prior contact with Fortec via VHG Channel 17. Smaller vessels will be able to pass through the remaining bridge spans.

Scope

Refurbishing the substructure and deck of the southbound timber bridge over the river, which was built in 1935. Scope includes abutment and concrete deck repairs, as well as upgraded balustrades.
