Eric Street Bridge Refurbishment

What's Happening

Upgrades are required on the Eric Street Bridge over the Perth-Fremantle rail line, in Cottesloe.

This timber bridge is over 112 years old and needs refurbishing to ensure that it can continue to operate well into the future.

This $10 million project is equally funded by the Australian Government’s Bridges Renewal Program and the State Government.

Work will be staggered until late 2025 and will primarily be undertaken after hours to avoid interference with the Public Transport Authority’s rail operations.

Path closures

A section of the Perth to Fremantle Principal Shared Path (PSP), adjacent to Curtin Avenue in Cottesloe, will be closed between
6pm and 2am from Monday 29 July to Friday 2 August 2024.

The section of path to be impacted by these after hours works is between Napier Street and north of the Eric Street bridge underpass. Pedestrians and cyclists will be detoured to the local path network on the western side of Curtin Avenue.

In addition to the after hours closures, the Eric Street Bridge underpass will be subject to stop/slow traffic management between 7am and 4pm on the above dates. Please plan ahead and allow a little extra time for your journey.
