Improving safety by eliminating all right-turn movements at this busy intersection

Albany Highway and Station Street Intersection Cannington

Work is about to start to improve safety at the black spot intersection of Albany Highway and Station Street, in Cannington. Due to the busy nature of this route, most of the construction work will be completed after hours to avoid major traffic congestion.

General working hours will be 8pm to 5am, Sunday to Thursday night, with all after hours activities completed in accordance with a Noise Management Plan approved by local government. Lane closures and speed reductions should be expected, as well as intermittent closures of Station Street at Albany Highway.

This upgrade is the first stage of a bigger project to improve safety and traffic flow on Albany Highway, within the vicinity of Westfield Carousel.

Stage 2 will get underway once METRONET’s Armadale Level Crossing Removal project is complete, and it will focus on lengthening the turn pockets into Nicholson Road and Liege Street to provide capacity for additional vehicles.
