Improved safety by eliminating all right-turn movements at this busy intersection

Albany Highway and Station Street Intersection Cannington

We have improved safety at the black spot intersection of Albany Highway and Station Street in Cannington by extending the solid median across the intersection, thereby eliminating all right-turn movements at this location. Left-in, left-out access has been retained at Station Street and streetlights have been relocated within the Albany Highway median.

This upgrade is the first stage of a bigger project to improve safety and traffic flow on Albany Highway within the vicinity of Westfield Carousel.

Stage 2 will get underway once METRONET’s Armadale Level Crossing Removal project is complete. It will focus on lengthening the turn pockets into Nicholson Road and Liege Street to provide capacity for additional vehicles.

This $2.5 million project was funded by the State Government.
