HVS Update 24-2026

Oversize Load Constraints During Tonkin Hwy Upgrades

Main Roads Heavy Vehicle Services (HVS) advises there will be width constraints through the Tonkin Hwy Upgrade works, between Roe Hwy and Kelvin Rd, once construction commences.

As the upgrade works progress, concrete barriers will be installed, which is expected to occur during December 2026. To safely clear the barriers, oversize loads exceeding 5.9 metres in width will be required to maintain a minimum ground clearance of 1.2 metres.

Transport operators will be required to closely monitor changes to traffic management arrangements throughout the upgrade works and conduct regular route surveys to ensure safe and compliant access.

For further information, please visit the Tonkin Hwy Corridor webpage and subscribe to Main Roads project updates.
