HVS Update 18-2025

South West Region - Shire of Manjimup - Removal of RAV Access on West Palgarup Road

Please be advised that Main Roads Heavy Vehicle Services (HVS) has reviewed Restricted Access Vehicle (RAV) Access on West Palgarup Road, between the public weigh bridge located approximately 1.1 km  west of South Western Highway and Yanmah Road, due to safety concerns raised by the Shire of Manjimup.

The assessments verified the safety concerns, including the following:

Non-compliant Road Widths

The above section of West Palgarup Road does not meet minimum seal or carriageway road width requirements.

Non-Compliant Sight Distances

The available sight lines on West Palgarup Road at the intersections of Yanmah Road and Linfarn Road do not meet minimum Entering Sight Distance requirements.

Non-Compliant Low Speed Swept Paths

The swept path assessments identified non-compliant turning movements for RAVs on West Palgarup Road at the intersections of Yanmah Road, Linfarn Road and Marginata Road.

As a result, Main Roads will be removing the following RAV Network access from the above mentioned section of West Palgarup Road.

  • Tandem Drive Networks 2 to 4
  • Tandem Drive AMMS Networks 2.3 to 4.3
  • Tri Drive Network TD1
  • Tri Drive AMMS Network TD1.1
  • Performance Based Scheme Tandem Drive Network PBS1B.1

HVS will also be removing the following RAV Network access from the West Palgarup Road connecting roads including, Marginata Road, Linfarn Road, Gibellinis Road and Tower Road.

  • Tandem Drive Networks 2 to 3
  • Tandem Drive AMMS Networks 2.1 to 3.1
  • Tri Drive AMMS Network TD1.1
  • Performance Based Scheme Tandem Drive Network PBS1B.1

These changes will be implemented on Wednesday 20 August 2025, which will be reflected in the relevant Road Tables and RAV Mapping Tool on our website from this date.
