Clearing and Revegetation

We strive to find a balance between achieving road safety objectives and the environment however it is not always possible to avoid the clearing of native vegetation. Main Roads’ assesses all clearing impacts for our projects and obtains all necessary approvals prior to clearing.

Main Roads’ has a Statewide Clearing Permit (CPS 818) to ensure it is able to manage the state’s road network to meet the needs of the community, industry and stakeholders, and that it addresses road safety objectives. Find out more about proposed and actual clearing under CPS 818 below. For Main Roads’ projects that are assessed under a separate clearing permit or by the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), information about these applications is available on the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation and EPA websites, respectively.

Main Roads prides itself on the revegetation undertaken across it’s road network.
