Congratulations to our fifth cohort of Yaka Dandjoo graduates

We recently celebrated the fifth cohort of nine Yaka Dandjoo students graduating from the program. The program is focused on building meaningful career pathways for unemployed and job-transitioning participants. This is accomplished through mentorships, training and preparing them to work on major infrastructure projects in WA.

We welcomed the Yaka Dandjoo program participants, their families and friends, our subcontractors, and program partners to celebrate this momentous event.

We also had two past graduates, Tara Caylon and Darhys Smith, speak to the audience and graduates on their journey through the Yaka Dandjoo Program and into employment – and what this has meant for them.

Darhys mentioned his excitement about his career in surveying and being grateful for the opportunity to provide for his young family. Tara spoke about the confidence she gained from the program, her gratitude to Picton Civil for employing her in January 2022. A highlight for her was performing a traditional dance during NAIDOC week along with her son and others from the BORR project.

This cohort graduating means that there have now been 74 participants who have successfully completed the program.
