HVS Update 3-2024
Temporary Special Assistance – East West 53.5 metre access endorsement.
Please be advised Main Roads has approved the Temporary Special Assistance – East West 53.5 metre permit endorsement (8406), in response to the current supply issues caused by flooding. The endorsement provides temporary access for 53.5 metre road trains, operating up to WA Accredited Mass Management Scheme Level 2 mass limits, between the WA/SA Border and the Kalgoorlie Rail Head or the Coolgardie Road Train Assembly Area and is available for use immediately, until 21 February 2024.
The temporary access arrangements are subject to the following permit conditions:
- This access only applies to vehicle combinations undertaking interstate road transport tasks.
- All vehicle combinations must display an amber flashing warning light on the rear of the combination that is clearly visible to traffic approaching from the rear.
- All operators must be accredited under the WA Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme or the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme. Operators operating at higher mass limits must be accredited for mass management.
To apply for the permit endorsement, each vehicle will require a Class 2 & 3 Supplement Period Permit. Operators can complete and email the application form to permit.applications@mainroads.wa.gov.au specifying they want the Class 2 & 3 Supplement Period Permit with endorsement number 8406 – “Temporary Special Assistance - East West 53.5m Access”.
