The future of Western Australia's road network will be shaped by transport experts proficient in integrating infrastructure, technology, and community needs.
In January, Main Roads welcomed 30 new graduates. This year also marked an important evolution of the Graduate Program, with the introduction of three new specialist streams — Landscape Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, and Heritage.
Delivering safe and efficient road networks today requires more than engineering alone and these new specialist streams reflect the integrated nature of modern transport infrastructure. From digital and spatial technologies that enhance network intelligence, to environmental and heritage expertise that ensures infrastructure is delivered responsibly, each specialist stream contributes to a holistic transport system that serves community needs now and into the future.
During this year's Corporate Induction, John Erceg, Managing Director, joined the Executive team to present career insights, discuss Main Roads’ strategic objectives, and emphasise the integral role each stream plays in advancing Western Australia’s transport system.
Throughout their program beyond technical skills, Main Roads Graduates will undertake a range of training courses that also enhance their soft skills. In February our graduates started their program with Professional Behaviour Training to build self-awareness, accountability and collaboration. We also have Basic Work Site Traffic Management training and Cultural Awareness scheduled in March 2026. A variety of other training will be provided throughout their program with the support of our Workforce Development Consultant and managers.
Main Roads welcomes our new Graduates and looks forward to their journey throughout their program and beyond.
