Penalties Increase for Accessing Closed Roads

The penalty for accessing closed roads and / or interfering with road closed signs has increased to $10,000.

Fires, floods, cyclones and extreme weather can sometimes lead to roads being closed or restricted, for safety reasons.

While these hazards can be inconvenient, they are also extremely dangerous.

If you come across a road closed sign on your travels, remember that CLOSED means CLOSED.

Offenders face a penalty of $10,000 for accessing closed roads and / or interfering with road closed signs
