Main Roads achieves Disability Confident Recruiter accreditation

In preparation for International Day of People with Disability on the 3 December, we’re excited to announce our recently achieved Disability Confident Recruiter accreditation by the Australian Network on Disability, making it easier for people with disability to join our workforce.

Main Roads has become one of just 30 organisations nationally – and the first transport agency in Australia recognised for this amazing achievement through making accessibility a key element of recruitment.

Main Roads is committed to the access and inclusion of people with disabilities in all areas of our business, which includes ensuring people with disability have the same opportunities to obtain and maintain employment.

The accreditation process to become a Disability Confident Recruiter is coordinated by the Australian Network on Disability, who have worked with Main Roads to identify and remove unintended barriers for people with disability when applying for employment with us.

In achieving the accreditation, our HR recruitment team and processes have demonstrated that they meet the stringent criteria, making us part of a select group of Australian public and private organisations to achieve this recognition. Main Roads is excited to now be able to display the ‘Disability Confident Recruiter’ logo on our website and job adverts with the aim to encourage more candidates with disability to apply for our job vacancies.

To celebrate International Day of People with Disability, most of our landmarks, including the Joondalup Drive Bridge, Mounts Street Bridge, Northbridge Tunnel, Sky Ribbon and the Public Transport Authority’s Perth Station – will be lit up in green and blue on Sunday 3 December 2023.
