International Day of People with Disability 2024

To recognise International Day of People with Disability, we’re excited to announce our recent re-accreditation as a Disability Confident Recruiter by the Australian Network on Disability, making it easier for people with disability to join our workforce.

Published: 03 December 2024, Updated: 03 December 2024

We first received accreditation in late 2023, when Main Roads become one of just 30 organisations nationally – and the first transport agency in Australia recognised for this amazing achievement through making accessibility a key element of recruitment.

Main Roads is committed to the access and inclusion of people with disabilities in all areas of our business, which includes ensuring people with disability have the same opportunities to obtain and maintain employment.  In achieving the accreditation, our HR recruitment team and processes have demonstrated that they meet the stringent criteria, making us part of a select group of Australian public and private organisations to achieve this recognition. Main Roads is excited to continue to be able to display the ‘Disability Confident Recruiter’ logo on our website and job adverts with the aim to encourage more candidates with disability to apply for our job vacancies.

To also recognise International Day of People with Disability, our landmarks including the Matagarup Bridge, Joondalup Drive Bridge, Mounts Street Bridge, Northbridge Tunnel, Sky Ribbon and the Great Northern Highway Port Hedland Interchange Bridge – will be lit up in green and blue tonight (3 December 2024).
