HVS Update 14-2025

Updated Prime Mover Combinations Operating Conditions

Main Roads Heavy Vehicle Services (HVS) has recently made some changes to the Prime Mover Combinations Operating Conditions

The changes are as follows:

  1. The compulsary WA Heavy Vehicle Accreditation requirements have been amended to clarify the Class 2 and 3 Prime Mover Combinations Order does not apply to operators who are not currently accredited.

  2. A 4.6 metre height concession has been provided for stacked lengths of polyethylene pipe, subject to mass restrictions, which aligns to the height concession provided under the Road Train with Long Trailers Period Permit

  3. Speed restrictions have been amended to clarify all relevant speed limits applicable to the vehicle combination, which will be enforced by WA Police and HVS Transport Inspectors.

  4. Parking requirements have been added to ensure vehicle combinations are not parking in prohibited areas and parking requirements or restrictions are adhered to when parking in approved parking areas. These provisions will be enforced by HVS Transport Inspectors.

The amended conditions relating to accreditation, speed restrictions and parking will be included in all other relevant permit operating conditions in the coming weeks.
