Marandoo Hill on Karajini Drive - Pilbara Region

The transport industry has requested an amendment to curfew times for Marandoo Hill on Karijini Drive.

Effective immediately, the following conditions now apply to the section of Karijini Drive between the signed parking bays located either side of Marandoo Hill:
  • Restricted Access Vehicles (RAVs) with a total combination mass up to 87.5 tonnes are permitted to travel on Marandoo Hill at any time.
  • RAVs with a total combination mass in excess of 87.5 tonnes may only travel on Marandoo Hill between midnight and 9:30am without additional conditions, i.e. without a block truck, unless otherwise stated on a Main Roads permit.
  • A RAV may travel on Marandoo Hill outside of the hours specified above, provided the vehicle combination is accompanied by the minimum number of block trucks stipulated below.
 
  • 87.5 – 170 tonnes, 1 additional block truck;
  • 170 – 245 tonnes, 2 additional block trucks;
  • More than 245 tonnes, 3 additional block trucks or as assessed.

All towing vehicles, including block trucks, must have a minimum of 14 tonnes on a tandem drive axle group or 17 tonnes on a tri drive axle group (which includes tridems), when towing laden trailers.
