Cyclists and pedestrians can now enjoy a new, high-standard path along Mitchell Freeway southbound between Civic Place in Stirling and Reid Highway in Balcatta.

Construction of the 3.7km section of shared path was officially opened by the Minister for Transport, the Hon Rita Saffioti MLA, on Monday 15 May. It will provide a safer and uninterrupted journey for commuters towards Perth CBD.

The $23.4 million project includes construction of an 75-metre underpass at Karrinyup Road and intersection upgrades at Karrinyup Road and Cedric Street.

This latest upgrade builds on the successful completion of the Principal Shared Path (PSP) between Hutton Street and Glendalough Station in 2020. It is a continuation of the State Government’s commitment to completing gaps on the Mitchell Freeway PSP, which is a key priority of the Western Australian Bicycle Network Plan 2014-2031.
