South Western Highway

Pemberton turnoff to Walpole

Investigating options to upgrade a 93 kilometre section between Vasse Highway and Walpole.
Road going through the forest

We are working with Walpole and surrounding communities to investigate options to upgrade a 93km section of the South Western Highway between Vasse Highway (Pemberton turnoff) and Walpole to improve safety for all road users.

We plan to increase the seal width from 6 metres to 10 metres, including the construction of fully sealed new shoulders. Where possible, we will improve safety of road verges by flattening batter slopes and protecting or removing roadside hazards (predominantly large trees).

We have been working with our Community Reference Group since 2013, seeking their input into influencing the extent of work.
