Kojonup Freight Route

Construct an alternative route for freight vehicles to travel around Kojonup townsite.
Kojonup Freight Route

Albany Highway travels through the Kojonup townsite passing residential and commercial properties located close to the road.  With no opportunities for widening and/or correcting steep gradients, we are proposing to construct an alternative route for freight vehicles.

According to recent traffic studies and consultation with the agriculture industry and freight operators, the majority of heavy vehicles that pass through the town do not stop in Kojonup or turn onto the surrounding network, particularly during the busy grain harvest season.

A freight route with suitable links to the town will significantly improve safety and amenity by separating heavy vehicles from local and tourist traffic. It will also facilitate the Shire’s development plans for Kojonup, ensuring the continued growth of the town as a popular tourist destination.
