A small section of Bussell Highway is being upgraded north of Cowaramup townsite to improve safety for road users.

The upgrade between Treeton Road and Peake Street will increase the road width, providing two 3.5 metre lanes with 1.5 to 2 metre sealed shoulders on each side of the highway.

We have completed several upgrades across the South West region, which involved constructing sealed shoulders to improve road environments similar to this one. This is the last section of Bussell Highway between Busselton and Augusta to have 1.5 to 2 metre sealed shoulders provided.

In addition to increasing the road width, we will also:

  • Provide a dedicated right hand turn from Bussell Highway into Treeton Road
  • Undertake major landscaping and rehabilitation works, using native plants and seedlings, to beautify and enhance the northern entrance to Cowaramup.
