Hutton Street to Cedric Street

We’re widening a 2 km section of freeway to improve safety and reduce congestion. Work has begun and is expected to finish in September 2020.

Overview

We are adding a fourth lane to Mitchell Freeway northbound from Hutton Street to Cedric Street.

In addition to the new lane, we will also be:

  • Installing 5.3 km of high-standard concrete barriers along the rail reserve between Glendalough Station and Erindale Road
  • Adding a double exit lane on the Cedric Street exit
  • Upgrading street lighting
  • Modifying the CCTV camera locations and Vehicle Detection Stations
  • Constructing three new emergency stopping bays
