Widened the highway and created more overtaking opportunities

Road construction underway with a vehicle moving material

A staged program of road safety improvements were completed at the folowing locations: 

Mead Road 

Widened the existing pavement from 7 metres to 11 metres from Killarney Road to Monty's Leap Winery, including a 2 metre sealed shoulder in each direction.

A westbound passing lane was constructed between Killarney Road and Monty's Leap Winery, approximately 2.5 kilometres west of Kalgan River Bridge.

  • Works started in February 2019 and completed June 2019

Kalgan 

The existing pavement was widened from 7 metres to 11 metres from Monty's Leap Winery to the Kalgan River Bridge, including a 2 metre sealed shoulder in each direction.

  • Works started in January 2020 and completed April 2020

Kojaneerup 

The third section of work included the reconstruction and widening of the highway, and construction of two passing lanes between Bluff Creek Road and Kojaneerup West Road.

  • Works started in November 2020 and completed July 2021
