South Western Highway (H009) - South Western Highway Willowdale Road Intersection

Phase:Clearing proposal closed for submission

Main Roads South West Region proposes to upgrade the intersection of South Western Highway (H009) and Willowdale Road (2090009) to address ongoing safety issues associated with the intersection and in response to Black Spot funding.

The upgraded intersection will improve the safety of the intersection, particularly during heavy northbound traffic periods on South Western Highway turning left into Willowdale Road to access the Alcoa Wagerup refinery and Willowdale mine.

The intersection upgrade requires the removal of up to 0.033 ha of native vegetation directly adjacent to South Western Highway. Specifically the upgrade requires the removal of five remnant Marri (Corymbia calophylla) in addition to one resprouting flooded gum (Eucalyptus rudis) and immature paperbark (Melaleuca rhaphiophylla) trees in a completely degraded condition.
