To help improve safety in the South West, the speed limit on Bussell Highway in Capel has been reduced to 80 km/h. 

Following a safety review, the 2.5-kilometre section south of Spurr Street to north of Halls Road was reduced on Friday 10 June.

Additional safety upgrades will be undertaken over the coming months, which includes improving visibility and signage. The review also recognised future upgrades to the five intersecting roads along the highway.  

More than 17,000 vehicles use this section each day, with just over 10 per cent of those heavy vehicles.
