Charles Street Planning Study

Charles Street

In response to community feedback, we will not proceed any further with the current Charles Street planning concept.

The concept outlined a long-term vision for Charles Street to alleviate traffic congestion in the decades ahead when there is expected to be significant growth in traffic volumes.

It also sought to address anticipated growth in traffic associated with the City of Vincent’s future plans for higher density development in the precinct.

Over the past six weeks, there have been several drop-in sessions and land owner meetings in addition to more than 550 people responding to an online survey to share their views on the concept.

However, less than half of the respondents supported the proposal with a key area of concern being the number of private properties likely to be impacted by the proposed concept.

In response, we will conclude consultation on the proposed concept and will not be seeking to make any changes to the existing Planning Control Area.

We would like to thank members of the community who took the time to provide feedback.

The feedback received to date will be assessed and the information fed into any future community consultation over long-term potential options for alleviating traffic congestion along Charles Street.
