The Great Northern Highway Upgrade - Maggie Creek to Wyndham project was a 27 kilometre design and construct on the existing highway, and included the reconstruction and realignment of ‘Maggie’s Jump Up’.

Engagement with Aboriginal businesses was a significant driver for this project.

Working with local Aboriginal Partner Dadaru as a joint venture, we assembled a team with WBHO Infrastructure, jointly coordinating and implementing initiatives.

The project set a target of 10 per cent for total local and non-local Aboriginal workers, and we successfully delivered this target and tripled it to 32.5 per cent.

Aboriginal business engagement was also successful, achieving a total 13.7 per cent - against a benchmark of 4.5 per cent.

Projects like this are a great example of providing safe and reliable roads, whilst also providing life skills and opportunities to Aboriginal people and businesses.
