Chester Pass Road roadworks

Chester Pass Road is an important freight link connecting the Great Southern Region with the City of Albany and plays an integral role in local traffic movement within the City. Chester Pass Road contains sections of old pavement that has seen numerous minor repairs in recent years and now requires more substantial treatment.

Information will be updated should any changes be required.

All potentially impacted property owners within 100 metres of the roadworks area have been contacted and our contractor Houspect Pty Ltd, have been busy completing pre-construction building inspections.

Traffic impact

During each stage of works, please be aware that:

  • traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction, with traffic management and speed restrictions in place;
  • temporary detours will be implemented periodically to divert traffic from side streets; and
  • access to residential and commercial driveways will be closed as work occurs adjacent to each property. We will endeavour to reopen access as quickly as possible.

In order to prevent excessive queue lengths and safety hazards, traffic bollards have been spaced at 4 m intervals along the centre of the road to discourage vehicles from turning into contraflow traffic to access properties on the opposite side of the road.  Drivers are asked to travel through the roadworks and turn around at a convenient location in order to approach and enter properties from the other direction, removing the need to cross traffic and impede traffic flow.

Plan ahead to avoid delays.

Please note that during the works, the Children’s Crossing located between Dunn Street and Edward Street will remain fully operational, as will local bus services.

Key Benefits

  • Improved drainage
  • Smoother road surfaces
  • Improved driveway access for local businesses and residents
