Road design drawings shall generally be presented on A1 sheets unless otherwise approved by the Main Roads Project Manager with the endorsement of the Manager Road and Traffic Engineering.
Sign drawings such as Intersection Direction Sign, Reassurance Direction Sign and Sign Post Schedules, may be presented on A3 sheets without the endorsement of the Manager Road and Traffic Engineering.
On any particular project either horizontal or vertical style title blocks may be used, but not a combination of the two.
3.1.1 Road & Traffic Engineering Title Blocks
The current version of title blocks for Road & Traffic Engineering, Structures Engineering and Design & Construct Contracts can be downloaded from the Design Presentation Drawings area located under the "Main Roads Drawings" icon on the Main Roads website. Alternatively a link for each title block has been included below.

3.1.2 Structures Engineering Title Blocks

3.1.4 Consultant's Logo
Provision for one Consultant's logo has been made available on all title blocks. For the production of all new drawings, the Consultant who is responsible for the majority of the design, shall place their logo into the space provided within the title block. This logo shall remain on the drawings at all times.
In the circumstance that another Consultant may amend the drawings, the new Consultant's logo shall be included in the amendment box. The original Consultant's logo shall remain on the drawing at all times, unless the content of the original drawing has been completely replaced with new content.
Drawing signatories on all Main Roads drawings shall conform to the following Delegation of Authority.
3.2.1 For Projects Undertaken By Main Roads Personnel
Designed/Drawn The name of the Designer certifying that the design requirements for the project (including technical standards) have been met; and the name of the drafting officer who prepared the drawing.
Verified The signature of the appropriate Design Team Leader verifying that an independent examination of the engineering design and drawing has been carried out to confirm compliance with design standards, accuracy of content and conformance with accepted good practice.
Approved The signature of the delegated officer confirming that the product described by the drawing meets the requirements of the project and that the drawing can be issued for use.
Amendments When the drawing is to be amended, all drawing signatures (including the "Verified", "Approved" and "Amendments" boxes) shall be replaced with the typed names of the signatories, and the approval of the new amendment shall be signed by the delegated officer.
3.2.2 For Projects Undertaken By Consultants
When the drawing is to be amended :
3.4.1 Pen Colours
All pen colours are to be set bylayer only, and shall conform to the following table for monochrome plots.
Text height and line thickness shall be consistent for all layers and conform to the following table wherever possible. The colour table for monochrome plots can be downloaded from the following links - Monochrome Colour Table and Monochrome Half Colour Table

3.4.2 Linetypes and Drawing Layers
Only standard AutoCAD linetypes, as supplied with AutoCAD or by Main Roads shall be used. The AutoCAD linetype file to suit Main Roads drawings can be downloaded from the following links - MRWA2009.lin and MRWA SERVICES.lin
All drawing layer colours and linetypes shall be set bylayer only.
Layer naming should be based on the following table.

3.4.3 Text Fonts
Only standard AutoCAD text fonts as supplied with AutoCAD, or fonts supplied with the "Ausfonts" package are permitted on drawings prepared for Main Roads. ISOCP2 shall be the standard AutoCAD font used. All text styles shall be defined with a height of "0".
3.4.4 Hatch Patterns
Only standard AutoCAD hatch patterns as supplied with AutoCAD, or hatch patterns in the "Autohatch" package are permitted on drawings prepared for Main Roads.
3.4.6 External Reference Files
Final drawings shall be supplied to Main Roads along with all external reference files used to create the final drawings. The external reference files shall be contained within the same directory as the final drawings.
The drawing is to be purged to ensure a minimum sized file for storage.
3.4.7 Completion Format
Drawings shall be supplied "plot ready" at a 1 = 1 plot scale. All unreferenced blocks, layers, styles and linetypes shall be purged. Drawings shall be saved at extents with the lower left corner of the title block at 0,0 coordinates.
Bar scales representing scales used on each drawing shall be placed along the right hand edge of the drawing sheet, in the space provided in the title block.
As a guide drawing scales shall be based on the information supplied in : Chapter 4 - Drawings Required For A Roadworks Contract.
Upon completion of construction for a road design project, all drawings shall be updated to reflect any changes from the original design implemented during the construction phase.
Each drawing in the drawing set shall be amended to reflect the as constructed changes and a description added to the amendments box describing the changes to the drawing.
Each drawing in the drawing set, even if unchanged shall also have an "As Constructed" drawing block inserted, to reflect that it is now an as constructed drawing. The amendment to an unchanged drawing should read "No Change" in the description box.
Cross section drawings do not need to be "As Constructed" amended.
