Tonkin Highway / Kelvin Road upgrade

Overview

As part of our Traffic Congestion Management Program, we are upgrading the intersection of Tonkin Highway and Kelvin Road to improve safety and traffic flow.

Work is already underway to relocate power and water services. Construction will start in early 2017 and be completed by mid-year.

This $7.5 million project is funded by the Western Australian Government and will improve traffic flow by reducing delays, improving safety and reducing driver frustration at peak periods.

Project scope

This project will provide additional through lanes on Tonkin Highway, additional and extended turning lanes and upgraded pedestrian and cycling facilities.

Construction impacts

From early 2017 road users may experience intermittent lane closures and speed restrictions through the intersection.

Most work will be undertaken during the day however there will be occasional night works for resurfacing.

Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey.
