As part of our Traffic Congestion Management Project, we are upgrading the intersections of Marmion Avenue with Hepburn and Whitfords Avenues to improve traffic flow and safety.
Western Power has completed a comprehensive program of works to bury its power lines and relocate street lighting at both intersections.
WBHO Infrastructure has been awarded the construction contract and will complete the project by mid-2017.
This $12 m project is funded by the Western Australian Government.
Read our project newsletter for more information.
The pedestrian underpass on Marmion Avenue, north of Whitfords Avenue, has been closed for an upgrade but will open before Christmas. In the meantime, alternative pedestrian access is available at the nearby traffic signals.
For the safety of road users and workers, the speed limit has been reduced to 60 km/h throughout both construction sites and 40 km/h in areas where work is occuring. There are also intermittent lane closures outside of peak hours.
Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey. We thank road users for their patience and co-operation while construction is underway.
Most work will be undertaken during the day to minimise the noise experienced by nearby residents, however there will be intermittent night works for drainage, kerbing, asphalting and line-marking.
