Marmion Avenue Intersection Upgrades

Hepburn Avenue and Whitfords Avenue

Overview

As part of our Traffic Congestion Management Project, we are upgrading the intersections of Marmion Avenue with Hepburn and Whitfords Avenues to improve traffic flow and safety.

Western Power has completed a comprehensive program of works to bury its power lines and relocate street lighting at both intersections.

WBHO Infrastructure has been awarded the construction contract and will complete the project by mid-2017.

This $12 m project is funded by the Western Australian Government.

Read our project newsletter for more information.

Construction impacts

For the safety of road users and workers, the speed limit has been reduced to 60 km/h throughout both construction sites and 40 km/h in areas where work is occurring. There are also intermittent lane closures outside of peak hours.

Intersection closures

To facilitate resurfacing works, the following closures are required:

LocationTimeframeImpact
Marmion Avenue at Whitfords Avenue

24 February to 1 March

9pm to 6am

Marmion Avenue at Hepburn Avenue

6 to 11 March

9pm to 6am

These closures will enable us to significantly reduce the duration of resurfacing works at both intersections and minimise any prolonged inconvenience to local residents and road users.

Signed detour routes will in place. Local access will be maintained at all times.

Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey. We thank road users and local residents for their patience and co-operation while this important project is completed.

Project Scope

This project includes:

  • widening at both intersections to provide extended and additional turning pockets;
  • upgraded traffic signals;
  • installation of CCTV for improved management of traffic flow and real-time intervention; and
  • improved pedestrian and cycling facilities.
