Dalwallinu to Wubin

The Dalwalllinu to Wubin project covers 30 km. It includes a new eastern bypass for Wubin, developed in consultation with stakeholders and the community, as well as a realignment of Great Northern Highway in Dalwallinu to improve a tight curve and improve safety.
Work is currently expected to start in mid-2017 and take about up to 18 months to complete.

Project scope and benefits

The planned Wubin bypass will provide greater separation between commuter and heavy traffic in the town. The route was selected following extensive community and stakeholder consultation, concept design, technical investigation and analysis.

It will provide a rural highway with a 110 km/h speed environment and include connections to the existing highway that allow road trains to access local facilities and the Road Train Assembly Area (RTAA).

Other planned improvements include:

  • Widening of the highway from Nugadong to Wubin;
  • New overtaking lanes; and
  • Upgraded intersections at Dalwallinu West Road, Dalwallinu Kalannie Road and Mullewa-Wubin Road.
