Midlands Road Bridge Replacements

 

Overview

Midlands Road is an important link between the Wheatbelt, Perth and the Mid West regions of Western Australia.  In connects several towns and supports the farming and mining industries.

Bridges 790 and 792 are going to be replaced with new concrete bridges meeting the latest safety standards.

Bridge 790 over Petan Creek Midlands Road is approximately 11.5 km south of the town of Carnamah.  Bridge 792 on Midlands Road is approximately 1.5 km north of Three Springs.

Project scope

The scope for the project includes the following:

  • Construct sealed side tracks at each bridge site
  • Demolish the existing bridges
  • Construct a new concrete bridge at each site
  • Install new guard railing to each bridge
  • Remove and rehabilitate side tracks

Works are likely to commence in February 2017 and take 16 weeks to complete.

 

Benefits

The new bridges will require minimal maintenance and allow for larger truck combinations on this road link, increasing efficiency and to support  local industry. 

The upgraded traffic barriers will provide a higher level of safety for all road users.
