Pinjarra Williams Road Improvement Project

Overview

Our South West Region is planning a range of upgrades to the Pinjarra Williams Road over the next few years.

The Pinjarra-Williams Road provides a key link between the Wheatbelt and the coast, including mines around Boddington requiring access to the ports of Fremantle and Bunbury.

The existing two lane road has a narrow seal width, narrow gravel shoulders and steep batters.

To improve safety and reduce the risk of serious crashes, the road needs to be widened.

It is planned to undertake works in a series of stages over several years to address these concerns by:

  • Widening the existing road pavement and constructing sealed shoulders
  • Improving safety of road verges by flattening batter slopes and protecting or removing roadside hazards to the roadside recovery zone
  • In addition to the road safety benefits, the works will support economic growth by enabling the effective movement of goods to support industry in the region

What's happening

Works east of Dwellingup

Works to the east of Dwellingup commenced in July 2017, which included widening the road pavement, drainage culverts and bitumen sealing works. These works were stopped by wet weather and will recommence in October 2017.

Works west of Dwellingup

Works will recommence in October 2017 to complete the remaining 2km of the 4.5km section, located 3km west of Dwellingup. The works will include improving the road alignment and providing wider sealed shoulders. Works will also include:
